MY POCKET FULL OF PROSE!

“Breakfast Table”

The table it wobbles…
and grits slide.
Eggs run yellow
to one side.
The salt shaker tosses
white crystals up high.
The pepper says ‘wait!”
I’ll go along for the ride!
Sprinkled out like dice –
a ‘deuce and a five’ !
As coffee jumps out
and flows like a tide.
My hands grip the table –
to make it subside.
Okaaaaay, now…
Steady.
Ooops! No.
I lied!
Victor goes to the table!
– a breakfast denied.
Lost to the floor
…by a landslide.

“Prison Without Bars”

            15 Reads
Prisms of color fading bleak
Choking like smoke
Can’t remember to speak
Words are strangling
Eyes grow weak
Trapped by silence
The mind scans and seeks
Faces familiar
Fade as memories leak
Into the darkness
Of a prison’s abyss
Walking like a zombie
Plain and meek
No rhyme nor reason
As the ages start to creep
Imprisoned in an emptiness
Of an awakened sleep.
– dementia.

“In His Hands”

Left alone in the land of man

Without ‘elevation’ or a helping hand

Turn dust to dawn and anger to song

And told old hateful fate to just move along

And stood up.

Alone… on my own

Only to relize how much I’d grown

Over time no rhythm, no Reason

Just to discover it was my season

To rise.

Alone in the land of man

Without man’s help…

But, in God’s hand

Cupped and comforted

Against all I confronted

I rose and stood.

Again.
